Lieze De Middeleir

About the artist
After her studies, Lieze De Middeleir set up her own studio, which she has visited almost daily ever since. In her work, people take centre stage — literally, as every piece contains casts of small pieces of skin — but people are also involved in various ways during the process itself. The process and the interaction are each documented in a unique way.
Lieze De Middeleir (1995) lives in Ghent. She earned a master's in Fine Arts at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent.
Starting point of the work
Tea and coffee packaging often states where they come from. I'm curious where the tea and coffee go. Which cups do people drink their favourite tea from? What does a coffee moment at home look like? How does a hot cup fit in your hands? We're going in search of the warmth Mattheus-B brings into people's homes.

Mattheus-B
Step into Mattheus-B and you enter a story that began back in 1907, when the shop was still a coffee roastery. Today the fourth generation stands behind the counter, as enthusiastic and passionate as ever. The shop has deliberately remained small and personal. With humour, knowledge and attention, they help you choose high-quality coffee and tea, sourced directly from the origin.
