Renée Bus

About the artist
Renée Bus regards the earth as one living, animate whole, inextricably interwoven with humankind. Her work invites us to pause and reflect on existence on earth. In ceramics, bronze, textile and language, she connects personal stories with universal themes such as life and death, transience and the choices that shape our life's path.
Renée Bus (1992) lives in Tilburg. She earned her bachelor's at AKV|St. Joost in Breda and subsequently her master's at Edinburgh College of Art.
Starting point of the work
Organic Bakery Lapin, a natural bakery. I think about how we've been eating and making bread for centuries, and how the grain is grown. My work will refer to our folkloric history, in which the rituals around sowing and harvesting are important moments in the year.

BDB Lapin
Behind a green veil of plants, tucked away in an authentic townhouse, lies organic bakery Lapin. Inside hangs the scent of freshly baked bread and pastries. Sourdough loaves, tarts, and sweet and savoury treats are enticingly displayed, alongside special products the makers have discovered themselves. It's also a great spot for lunch. As much as possible, they work with honest, fresh, local produce, complemented with flavours from further afield. A place to smell, taste and discover.
