Léonie Chauchat

About the artist
For her artworks, Léonie Chauchat explores the relationships between the various envelopes that surround us, from the pot and the house to the nutshell and the human body.
Léonie Chauchat (1993) lives in Saint-Gilles, Brussels. She earned her master's in ceramics at ENSAV La Cambre in Brussels.
Starting point of the work
I was especially struck by Anne Goovaerts's shoemaking workshop and the emphasis placed there on repair. That approach closely aligns with my own way of working. In the piece I'm currently developing especially for the shop, Spare Parts, the various elements are conceived as forms of repair that address both body and mind. Tools are essential here, just as they are within our respective crafts.

Anne Goovaerts Lederatelier
Dreaming of a pair of shoes made entirely for you? Or of a new version of that one beloved, worn-out pair? Anne Goovaerts loves working together to make your dreams come true. In her leather workshop, Anne collaborates with skilled colleagues. But it's not only about repairing shoes and leather goods here. Shoes are still genuinely handmade here, step by step and entirely made to measure. A place where craftsmanship is palpable in the leather, the shapes and every detail.
