Stride across the stately staircases in Pompeian red, past pilasters, mirrors and gold leaf, and imagine yourself for a moment in the splendour of the belle époque. The theatre, designed by Pierre Bourla, was inaugurated in 1834 and was soon considered one of the best-built theatres in Europe. To this day, the interior breathes grandeur, history and theatre.
